They work fine. May be the best choice in some situations. Available on Amazon

Does a magnetic ground clamp work well and where to get one?
I have one from Harbor Freight that looks like this Amazon one. I don't see it online now. HF's magnet-base torch holder is similar, cheaper, and one of the reviews says it makes a good magnetic ground. (So long as the gun isn't live after you let go of the trigger!!!)

The magnetic ground clamp is a good solution when what you're welding doesn't have a convenient place to clamp to. Just stick it wherever then clamp to its protruding bolt. Recommended, but there may be a limit on how much current it will pass. Anybody know?

Have some just needs a clean place no paint etc to ground and clean the grindings off the magnet for use. Avoid grounding through the magnet, some have a post on a spring in the middle some ground through the side plates. ones with a on off switch are handy and easier to position on light materials. Be careful as it is very easy to forget where the ground runs and you want to avoid bearings and electronics same a a regular ground clamp. Works great for welding on dozer tracks as they are usually polished clean in time for ice cleats to be welded on.
