Found a existing Army trailer, removed the box from the frame. Cut the box down in width to just under 40" wide. The width had to narrow enough to get on and off stage in limited space. Made new frame and mounted the narrowed box to it. Made a fake tow tongue assembly that folds up for storage and mounted it to the new frame. Pulled wheels off the axle and removed brake assembly. Cut axle down to fit wheels under the narrowed box and frame. Attached to frame rigidly to make it solid, no springs to the trailer so it can be jumped on and remains firm. Replaced wheels and made down legs with casters to hold trailer level, added a small ladder to the rear for easy entry on it from the back of the trailer. Made a unseen platform inside the box just below the top edge can be danced on. Painted all the new steel parts, then aged all the newly painted parts down to match the old weathered paint. Made up two 4' wide x 8' high frame systems on bases with casters and put on the backdrop and other military items. Ended up using gas, wire and stick welders. Was lots of hard work but had a good time and it was fun making this set, but those old military trailers are build sooooo heavy I had a hard time moving it around to work on lol, even with lifts etc.
