Pulsed GMAW on 1/4" carbon steel with 75/25 gas?

The 150 of 75/25 was about $350. Whenever I get my 90/10 I'll let you know....

Pulsed GMAW on 1/4" carbon steel with 75/25 gas?

BTW, still waiting on a bottle of 90/10 gas, ordered it two weeks ago now. Nobody around here has a 150 in stock, which is the size I want so I can fit 3 bottles on my cart. Seems odd, I wonder if the Chinese virus will be the excuse for poor gas inventory management, or whatever. This is Texas...

Pulsed GMAW on 1/4" carbon steel with 75/25 gas?

Sorry to reply so late. I don't know how I missed your post. I wound up using GMAW with the 255's Auto-Set feature and 75/25 gas. And I switched plans to adding a horizontal triangulation up high where they had bent, instead of simply welding the perches on (they are also bolted to the frame...

Miller has a forum too, so far it's pretty slow, been around 15+ years

But it can't hurt to scan that forum too. The one guy who answered me joined in 2005! Miller welding forum

Pulsed GMAW on 1/4" carbon steel with 75/25 gas?

Oh yeah, the pulses are many times per second. Can't move the arc that fast. Thanks for the advice. I cleaned up the metal last night and devised a triangulation weld using stock that should be stronger and will be easier to get the gun in there. Pics to follow.

Pulsed GMAW on 1/4" carbon steel with 75/25 gas?

I'm new to pulsed but not to GMAW. Had to sell my entire welding rig when we escaped yurrup, wrong volts/hertz. Just bought a Multimatic 255 and a bottle of 75/25. Now I'm reading (here) that I need more argon in the mix to do pulsed. I ordered a bottle of 90/10 but it won't be here for a week...

Are Spray and MIG the same? Is 75/25 gas OK for both, and pulsed MIG?

Went in today to order a bottle of 90/10 which will arrive in a week for purchase. He had a big one to lease in stock but I prefer to own, and prefer 4' size. Praxair has one in stock but they also have a 30.06 sign up so I don't go there. These days, I'm not disarming anywhere but the...

Are Spray and MIG the same? Is 75/25 gas OK for both, and pulsed MIG?

Wow I'm drinking from a fire hose. Thanks for all that. Now I know what to do. I'm going back in Monday for a bottle of 90+ and some CopperWeld. Then I'm cutting a good sized backing plate from a parts truck we have out in the yard, Bricknose but the floorpan didn't change from 80-97 on...

Are Spray and MIG the same? Is 75/25 gas OK for both, and pulsed MIG?

The longest crack is only 4" (see pic) so I can do the welds in overlapping beads to avoid overheating, right? The shop where I bought it had .035" wire in std size spools, and I didn't want a small spool. The driver wheel only does .035 and .045" so it sounds like I should order a smaller...

Are Spray and MIG the same? Is 75/25 gas OK for both, and pulsed MIG?

There's a whole series of nicknames for old Fords. Dentside is 73-79. Bullnose 80-86. Bricknose 87-91. Aeronose or OBS 92-97. Earlier, I don't know. If you like Bullnose here is a great forum with oodles of doc http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/ Back to welding, I found that Miller has a forum...

Are Spray and MIG the same? Is 75/25 gas OK for both, and pulsed MIG?

I just set up my new Miller Multimatic 255 today. No welds done yet, still reading. The first project is repairing cracks in the 1/16 mild steel floorboard of a 1986 Ford Bullnose. The cause of the cracks was improper custom seat mounts and they have already been cut out. The bottle I bought...

Howdy and welcome. What MIG to buy?

I priced that Lincoln and it's about $5k for the base machine then extra for cart etc. Made in Mexico, it appears based on your investigation. For $2k less, I can get the Miller Multimatic 255, apparently a Chinese/US mongrel with unknown percentages of each. For another grand, I get the dual...

Do you have any sites I could look at that detail how much of Millers are from China? I'm sure that China makes some good stuff. But I'm not patronizing evil communist dictators any more. Any company above a certain size is run by the CCP there. I'll muddle my way thru as best I can and...

Howdy and welcome. What MIG to buy?

Just got a call back from Everlast. Made in CHINA. And the sales rep tried to apply pressure. LOL, I'm a retired marketer, I know pressure generates bad customer relations. No thank you. Miller on the other hand was honest. Most of the control boards are made in China, but the rest is made...

Howdy and welcome. What MIG to buy?

Saw a couple vids about pulse now. I always hated those little tick bugs to grind off. Looks like if I want pulsed, it's not gonna be Harbor Freight. It's Miller 255 time, or maybe the Everlast iMIG 275P Dang, is this guy good or wut? Pulse MIG on goolagtube Everlast 253 Dpi tried out for...

    >Seriously, though, if you are looking at .8mm or .030 wire feed Didn't a decimal place error destroy the Enterprise, Hindenberg and Titanic? LOL, thanks. Yes I know about different gas for SS, we have a good gas shop not too far away, it's where I'm shopping for a Miller. Until I noticed this...

Howdy and welcome. What MIG to buy?

My sons and I do hobby and ranch welding. Currently I'm hung up on a repair to the floorboard of our classic Bullnose Ford because I only have a stick welder. That's good for ranch projects but not sheet metal. We're European refugees, got out before somebody ran a truck over us, and sold all...
