    Show your stick welders

Don't know what your budget is, but you can get a used 250 amp DC welder for under $300 easily, FWIW. This is mine. Bought it for $200 at an industrial surplus place. Works perfectly. A couple weeks later they had another one just like it for $150.

Fixing bucket, straightening bent cutting edge and welding on a new one.

Forks are really useful to have around. Is there a way you could do it without cutting them off?

Flap wheel and cutoff disc manufacturers

Thanks for this. Hadn't heard of this place before. Good prices on non Chinese products. My order is on it's way. (y)

Flap wheel and cutoff disc manufacturers

:unsure:Umm... the Benchmark Abrasives discs are Chinese made.

    Stick as compared to mig.

That is incorrect. With AC, your polarity is constantly switching back and forth, (hence the "alternating current" nomenclature), which is the reason that it's not as smooth as DC.

Changing odds and ends into useful implements

If they're unit bearings, (and I assume they are, given your description), you don't actually need an axle. I built an off road trailer and used some old unit bearings off a Dana 60 axle from a Dodge 3500. I used a piece of 3/8"x4x6 angle, reinforced with gussets. Cut a big hole with four small...

Changing odds and ends into useful implements

For light use like that you could get away with just using a tube inside a tube rather than a bearing, although if you can find an old trailer axle or free float truck axle like I used it'd be smoother. Really nice to have this thing. Saved me having to load up and haul the loader to a couple...

    should I upgrade?

I only have a tiny amount of experience with flux core, but those who do have more experience would probably be better able to answer your question if you gave more details about what you're welding. For the types of things that normally come to mind when someone mentions "farm welder" I think a...

    Ideas for old trailer

Cut it up into as long of pieces as is practical. You'll be able to tell while doing that if the steel is too compromised to use.

Cheapest '190 amp' stick welder - on Amazon - $110

I don't have experience with one like that but you should be aware that you can buy a good used Lincoln, Miller or Hobart machine for the same price. No one really knows for sure how long those machines can last. I had a Lincoln AC/DC tombstone buzzbox that I recently sold to a buddy that ran...

    Cutting steel sections

My mistake. Yes, the first example you posted was what I was talking about. I tried the 4.5 inch version in an angle grinder. Was really surprised at how poorly it performed since I've had such good luck with other Diablo products. I might give that carbide tooth blade a try.

    Cutting steel sections

Not even remotely close. The Diablo diamond blade that I tried was garbage. Lasted maybe as long as two or three Weiler abrasive blades and costs ten times as much.

    Cutting steel sections

Angle grinder with a good cutoff wheel can be plenty accurate in the right hands. FYI, not all cutting wheels are created equal. I've found Weiler or Diablo to be the best. Don't waste your money. You can get abrasive blades for wood cutting circular saws, but they're dangerous, hard on the saw...

    Inexpensive MIG or arc welder.

I bought my Lincoln Idealarc 250 at an industrial surplus place for $200. Welds beautifully. Quite common to find machines like that for under $400.

    Chainsaw Sprocket Redneck Weld Repair

You should definitely check into that before fighting with it. Lots of sprockets for old McCulloch saws on Ebay.

    Chainsaw Sprocket Redneck Weld Repair

I was kinda waiting to respond to this one to see if anyone had actually tried this. I work with chain saws for a living and do steel fabricating for a money saving (and occasional money making) "hobby". I really don't think it'll be worth it for you. What brand and model of saw is it?

    10k Dump Trailer Build

Mine'd probably lift that much I imagine, although it doesn't extend 8'. I posted a picture of it on another thread here lifting 1500 lbs at about 3 ft. You may be able to just use a hub like mine for that kind of weight. I'd be looking to pick 2500-3000 at that distance.

What number rods are these ?

The flux bends with it? I've done that with 7018 and 6010 but the flux where the bend is just flakes off.

    10k Dump Trailer Build

How are you planning to build the pivot mechanism? I'd like to build something like that in the future and that definitely seem like the most difficult part. Built a small crane for my truck that uses a hub from a Dana 80 truck axle for the pivot but it'd need to be something bigger for what...

    No gas welders?

Never tried gas welding, though I'd like to some time. Bit of brazing here and there but no welding. Any videos or other resources you'd recommend?

Changing odds and ends into useful implements

Definitely worth learning. Here's a crane I made for my truck out of an old pickup crane I've had lying around for years and a hub from a Dana 80 axle. The weight it has hanging from it weighs 1500 lbs.

AC or DC for stick welding.

I use 7018 rod all the time in vertical and overhead positions. Works fine if you know how to do it. Used to use 6010 but any more I use 7018 for 95% of what I do.

Anyone Fab up a quick hitch?

Easiest way would be to buy the quick attach adapters and build a mount to fit your machine. That tractor is definitely out of the ordinary with the dump cylinders being on the outside of the arms like that. Should still be doable though. I've built adapters for a couple of machines using these...
